On this day, we’ll embark on an unforgettable journey to experience one of Morocco’s most spectacular sights: the Cascades of Ouzoud. Located in a lush valley approximately 150 kilometers from Marrakech, these waterfalls are surrounded by charming Berber villages and offer three stunning tiered cascades plunging 110 meters into the river below. During our visit, you’ll have the opportunity to trek along the river to explore the caves or gorges of Oued el-Abid, take a refreshing swim in the crystal-clear water, or stroll along the network of paths leading to the basins below the cascades. For lunch, we’ll indulge in delicious Moroccan cuisine, such as tajine and local specialties, at one of the charming restaurants in Ouzoud, nestled among lime trees. Alternatively, you can enjoy freshly squeezed orange juice at one of the many cafes along the terraces on the path to the falls. Our journey from Beni Mellal to Imilchil promises to be a captivating exploration of the heart of the Middle Atlas region. As we embark on this adventure, we’ll traverse the picturesque landscapes and winding roads that lead us through El Had, Ben Cherro, Naour, and across the mountain passes of Tizi Ifar and Tizi Isly. Along the way, we’ll be treated to breathtaking vistas of the rugged terrain and majestic peaks that characterize this region. Upon our arrival in Imilchil, we’ll be greeted by the tranquil beauty of its two legendary lakes, Tislit and Isli, also known as the Bride and the Groom. According to local legend, these lakes were formed from the tears shed by two lovers from rival tribes who were forbidden to marry. This poignant tale adds to the mystique of Imilchil and serves as a reminder of the rich cultural heritage that permeates the village. Imilchil is renowned for its annual Imilchil Wedding Festival, a cherished tradition that celebrates the union of couples from neighboring tribes. Held each September, this festival is a vibrant display of Berber culture and features the unique Aït Yaazza tradition of collective marriage, where women have the opportunity to select their future husbands. As the day draws to a close, we’ll retreat to an inn in Imilchil, where we can immerse ourselves in the warmth and hospitality of the local community. Here, amidst the serene surroundings of the village, we’ll have the opportunity to reflect on the day’s adventures and the rich tapestry of culture and tradition that we’ve encountered along the way.
